WHEREAS, on February 26th, 2020, the Charlevoix County Commissioners adopted a Resolution declaring Charlevoix County to be a Second Amendment Sanctuary County;

NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Charlevoix County Republican Party demands that the representatives of the 102nd Michigan State Legislature vote in opposition of all proposed legislation that infringes on the right of the people to own, bear, purchase, and sell items that are relevant to the operation, maintenance, and modification of any firearms, including but not limited to: ammunition, magazines, stocks, triggers, braces, barrels, etc.

RESOLVED, that the Charlevoix County Republican Party encourages the Charlevoix County Board
Commissioners, as the governing body of the County, to formally denounce the calls by Governor Gretchen Whitmer for the Michigan legislature to enact laws which would infringe upon the people’s right to bear arms.

RESOLVED, that the Charlevoix County Republican Party encourages the Charlevoix County Sheriff, as the law enforcement officer elected by the registered voters of the county to uphold and defend the Constitution, to denounce such laws should they be enacted, by refusing to require himself, his undersheriff, or his deputies to carry them out.

RESOLVED, that the Charlevoix County Republican Party encourages their counterparts in the other 82 Michigan counties, whose delegates were elected by their constituents to defend and promote the true constitutional values of the Republican Party platform, to adopt similar resolutions in their counties.

RESOLVED, that the Charlevoix County Republican Party, having faithfully supported our elected officials while they were running for election, will not support any elected official in future elections, who vote in favor of legislations that infringes on our Constitutional right to bear arms.
